Breast Augmentation / Enhancement surgeon

Breast Augmentation
(Augmentation Mammaplasty)
Breast augmentation is a very popular procedure
for women and among the most commonly performed cosmetic
surgery procedures. When performing breast augmentation
surgery a saline filled implant is inserted under the crease
in the breast, around the nipple or through the armpit.
Incisions are made to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible.
Dr. DiBello prefers placing implants beneath the chest wall
muscle. After surgery, breasts will appear "fuller"
and more shapely in contour. Incision scars from breast
enhancement / enlargement surgery will typically fade over
time.
Saline implants have been extensively studied and there
is a great deal of scientific evidence supporting their
long-term safety. During the consultation with our breast
augmentation surgeon Dr. DiBello you will be provided with
a significant amount of literature for your review and you
will be counseled extensively regarding the known risks
associated with implants.

Breast Lift
(Mastopexy)
Over time, the effects of gravity along with the loss of
the skin's natural elasticity begins to have an effect on
the appearance of a woman's breasts. These factors,
combined with pregnancies and nursing will often cause the
breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness.
A breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise
and reshape sagging breasts. The procedure can also
reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding
the nipple). Breast implants inserted in conjunction
with a mastopexy procedure can increase both firmness and
size.
The mastopexy procedure improves the appearance of the outside
of your breasts in several ways. The breast tissue is elevated,
removing the excess skin from the lower portion of the breast,
reshaping and tightening the remaining breast skin. At the
same time, it repositions the nipple and the areola (the
pigmented skin surrounding your nipple) to the esthetically
desired higher position. The procedure can also reduce the
size of the areola if a significant amount of stretching
over time has occurred. While the mastopexy procedure will
result in some increase in upper breast fullness, significant
enhancement or improvement in fullness can be achieved by
placing a saline implant at the time of the mastopexy procedure.
The saline implant augmentation is most commonly performed
at the same time as the mastopexy procedure, but can be
done any time after the mastopexy procedure as a separate
surgery.

Breast
Reduction
(Reduction Mammaplasty)
Large, pendulous breasts may cause a woman to potentially
experience various medical problems caused by the excessive
weight of the breast tissue. Problems with posture,
skeletal deformities, back and neck pain, skin irritations
and breathing problems are common with this condition.
Bra straps often leave indentations in the shoulder area. Because
of the symptoms associated with very large breasts, the
breast reduction procedure is generally considered a reconstructive
plastic surgery procedure, and therefore covered by most
insurance plans. Many women, especially teenage girls, are
very self-conscious if they have unusually large breasts.
Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) removes fat, glandular
tissue, and excessive skin, resulting in smaller, lighter
and firmer breasts that are better-shaped in proportion
to the rest of the body.

Breast
Reconstruction
Reconstruction of the breast after a mastectomy due to cancer
or other disease is quite possible with today's surgical
procedures. The procedure is often covered by many
healthcare providers after breast cancer surgery.
Legislation has been passed by Congress to enact mandatory
coverage.
Using the newest medical techniques, Dr. DiBello is often
able to create a breast that is similar in form and appearance
to that of the natural breast. A consultation will
provide you with information on the many available options
for post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
