Face Lift Surgery
(Rhytidectomy)
Over time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to
sun, dry air, and general stress takes its toll on an individual's
face and neckline. Jowls can develop under the jawline
with folds and fat deposits. Sometimes creases begin
to form between the nose and the mouth.
A face lift can considerably reduce these signs of
aging by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying
muscles, and redraping the skin around the neck and face.
Face lifts can be done alone, or frequently performed in
conjunction with another procedure such as a browlift, eyelid
surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas
are limited to the neck, a more conservative procedure,
known as a "necklift" will be recommended.
In some cases, a face lift can reduce the outward signs of
aging by ten or fifteen years.
In the classic procedure of face lift surgery, excess facial
skin is freed from the underlying tissues and the excess
is trimmed and tightened. In some instances, the deeper
tissues are repositioned and lifted to provide a more youthful
contour to the face. The removal of fat and smoothing of
the structures of the neck and suspension of the neck is
generally performed through a small incision beneath the
chin.
An endoscopic face lift is performed if you do not have a
significant excess of loose skin and overall good tissue
tone. In this minimally invasive procedure, small incisions
are placed in inconspicuous areas usually within the hairline
to provide tightening of the deeper tissues and lifting
of the tissues beneath the skin.

Eyelid Surgery
(Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is designed to remove excess
skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. The
procedure can correct drooping upper lids that tend to sag
with time and the puffy bags below the eyes. Blepharoplasty
can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction with
other facial surgery such as a face lift or a browlift.
The fat and loose skin is removed from the upper eyelid
area through an incision that is hidden within the natural
eyelid fold. The incision does extend slightly up to the
outside corner of the eye towards the eyebrow to allow it
to blend into existing creases. When the upper eyelid problem
is aggravated by sagging of the eyebrows this can be treated
with a browlift (go to browlift).
To treat the lower eyelids, an incision is made just beneath
the eyelash line and through this incision the excess fatty
tissue leading to the lower eyelid bags is removed and sometimes
repositioned and the excess skin is tightened. Occasionally,
in younger patients or if the lower eyelid skin tone is
satisfactory, a transconjunctival lower eyelid lift can
be performed through an incision on the inside of the lid.
An additional procedure that is sometimes used is laser
resurfacing of the lower eyelid skin to achieve a small
degree of tightening combined with the approach through
the inside of the eyelid.

Forehead Lift
(Browlift)
A forehead lift or "browlift" is used to correct
a drooping browline (eyebrow area) reducing the horizontal
lines and furrows (worry lines) that often make a person
appear angry, sad or tired. The procedure typically
creates a refreshed, youthful appearance to the forehead
area above the eyes.
When performing a forehead lift procedure, muscles and tissue
areas that droop or cause creases are removed or corrected
to smooth the skin on the forehead to reduce frown lines
and raise the eyebrows. There are two surgical methods,
and during your initial consultation the procedure that
works best for you will be recommended. The first
is the most conventional method where a surgical incision
is hidden just above the hairline. Browlifts are also
performed using an endoscope which enables the procedure
to be performed with a minimal number of incisions.
While the traditional method can sometimes attain more lift,
both methods are designed to create smoother, flatter skin
on the forehead.

Surgery
of the Nose
(Rhinoplasty)
Surgery to reshape the nose, (rhinoplasty) is among the
most common plastic surgery procedures. This procedure
can reduce or increase the size of the nose, remove an unwanted
hump, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow
the width of the nostrils, or change the angle between the
nose and the upper lip.
Reshaping is generally done through incisions inside the
nose. In some instances an “open technique”
requires an incision on the under side of your nose between
the nostrils. By removing a small wedge of skin at the base
of the nostrils, the base of your nose can be narrowed with
the size of the nostrils reduced. The scars on the nose
generally fade over time and ultimately should be barely
visible.
Your nose can be reduced or built up by altering the internal
supporting structures either by removing or adding cartilage
or other types of soft tissue fillers. This “tenting”
will allow the skin and soft tissues to assume their new
shape.
Your breathing problems can be caused by irregularity of
the internal structures of the nose and adjustments to these
can be made to improve your nasal airway. This can be done
at the same time as and in conjunction with the rhinoplasty
procedure.

Otoplasty
Otoplasty, or ear pinback, is performed to correct protruding
ears. It happens to be one of the few cosmetic surgeries
performed on children.
An incision is placed in the natural creases behind the
ear and the cartilage of the ear is weakened so that it
bends into a new shape. The cartilage is also stitched into
position to hold the ear into position. Recovery normally
takes one to two weeks and results can be noticed after
a few months.

Lip Enhancement
Full and vivacious lips have always been recognized as aesthetically
important features. Some of us however, are born with
thin, ill-defined lips. But the appearance of our
lips is now within our control. Dr. Dibello can discuss
with you several options for lip enhancement.

Surgery of the Chin
Chin surgery can change the shape of the chin to reduce
or enhance the chin to bring it into balance and proportion
with the other facial features. The contour of the
chin can be reshaped to be smoother, or more angular in
appearance.
The most common approach for adding prominence and improving
the contour of the chin is by the insertion of a chin implant
either through an incision inside the mouth or under the
chin through the skin. In either case, the surgery usually
leaves only a faint scar, which is barely noticeable. Another
approach for strengthening the appearance of your receding
chin is through a procedure to actually move the chin bone
through an incision inside the mouth.
